Eurypterus remipes (Sea Scorpion)

Description of Organism:

Scorpion like creature with 6 legs but the claws seem to be behind the legs. Preserved in a dolostone matrix, this creature was a water dweller that could grow from 2.5 to 3 meters.

Found in large dolostone matrix a form of sedimentary rock (?)

Reason for state fossil:

It was found in New York and the general area of New York. It is also the only region where you can find fossils of these kinds so well preserved and good shape.
